TRAINING & SUPPORT
Online support
Companies often need assistance on where specific help can be found to answer a particular question. Whereever possible this is included in the guidance notes to the question but specific questions can be emailed to info@ciaps.org.uk . However, member companies often request more in depth help which cannot be provided online. Therefore CIAPS, together with Evolution - IP and SuccessTrain, has developed two training programmes to assist such companies.
For companies seeking certification for the first time
Experience has shown that many companies wishing to become Listed or directly progressing to the Accredited level, have little or no experience of self-certification or UKAS-accredited inspection procedures. Therefore, CIAPS and Successtrain have developed a two day programme that assists a company understand what is needed, why it is needed and how it can be easily achieved. This course has been submitted to ABBE (the Awarding Body for the Built Environment) for accreditation , whereby succesful participants can awarded a diploma. For more information on this course click here .
For clients and managing contractors
For those clients and companies seeking to verify compliance with the 'Construction Commitments' , CIAPS in conjunction with its training partners has developed an advanced ten day programme that leads the participants through the integration of the six Commitment disciplines into their company's management practices. Again, diploma status is being sought via ABBE. For more information on this course click here .
Financial support for these training programmes
Funding streams which subsidise construction training programmes are often difficult to identify because the funding organisations differ from region to region. Accordingly, funding and/or sponsorship cannot be guaranteed but our experienced training providers will identify subsidies available at the time of enquiry. Currently SME’s have been able to offset much of their training costs through grant aid which has included European Regional Development Fund support.
General help for micro and small businesses
CIAPS has identified the Constructing Excellence 'Essential E' programme of four one-day training days is particularly suited to assisting the modest SME and micro contractor reach a level of business compentency that readily satisfies the Listed Level requirements. The 'Introduction to Business' and 'Introduction to Sustainability' courses are currently accredited by ITEC whilst the 'Introduction to H & S' award and the 'Management of training for small builders' programme are accredited by CELL. Those people completing these courses are eligible to an award. For more information please email us using the Contact us facility.
